MESSAGE ON WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY Secretary General UN
Game warden Dario Favre goes about his daily routine in the silence and open spaces of the Gran Paradiso National Park. Over the course of a year, filmmaker Joseph Peaquin accompanied him on his long nocturnal walks, sighting and rescuing injured animals, contemplating the pristine Alpine landscape. The film goes beyond picture postcard glossiness to portray the story of a man and his dedication to his work, the solitude it imposes, his relationship with his daughter who waits for him to return home. The camera is a detached, quiet observer of how one man comes to terms with sometimes difficult situations.
Joseph Peaquin earned a degree in Communications Science from the University of Grenoble before moving to the Aosta Valley where he makes documentaries. His directorial debut film was Paris, Val d'Aoste (1997). His films have been presented at numerous international festivals (Il était une fois… les délices du petit monde awarded at the 2007 Trento Film Festival), shown on network TV and for home video distribution around Europe. In 2003 he founded the production company Docfilm, and in 2006 collaborated with the film director Lech Kowalski on the www.camerawar.tv project.
