In spite of its name Greenland is one of the most desolate places in the world, with a surface covered by 86% with ice. Life in small villages is confronted with a grand but hostile nature, characterized by huge emptiness and solitude. The immense whiteness of the landscape and the attachment of people to a destiny that has little to offer turn one of the world's most inhospitable lands into a place of moving purity.
Mario Nardin was born in Bolzano. After graduating in medical studies, he started making documentaries especially on ethnographic subjects. His works include Destinazione Koutiala (1998), Pachamama (1997), Surma (1997), L'India dei totem e degli dei (1998), La porta dell'ignoto (2000) e Alzalai (2001).
