Thule, a small town in northern Greenland, is the world’s northernmost inhabited settlement. Tuvalu is one of the world’s smallest island nations, covering 700 sq. km in the Pacific Ocean. Though geographically distant, they share the same fate of global warming. Thule is threatened by glacial melting, and Tuvalu by rising sea levels.
Matthias von Gunten graduated from the Munich School for Television and Film with the final year feature film Quelle Günther. Documentaries to his directorial credit include Journeys into the Interior, Big Bang, Coincidence in Paradise, Die Wägsten und Besten des Landes and Max Frisch, Citoyen.
