Mia is a 10-year-old girl who lives with three elderly women in a village in South America. Her mother has long since died and her father works far away in the Amazon on the construction of a hotel complex. One night, Mia wakes up suddenly. In the fear that something has happened to her father, she sets off to find him, taking with her three amulets (a die, a feather, and a snail shell). Along the way she meets the Migoo, forest spirits that guard a majestic tree (the heart of the planet), and discovers the wonders of nature.
Jacques-Rémy Girerd made his first feature, Raining Cats and Frogs (2003), followed by Mia and the Migoo (2008), winner of the European Film Award. He won the 2010 Prix Henri-Langlois at Rencontres Internationales du cinéma de Patrimoine, Vincennes.
