Following on the success of Home, the United Nations asked Yann Arthus-Bertrand to make the official film for the inauguration of International Forest Year 2011. Filmed from the air, the forest reveals how, through the production of oxygen for the past 380 million years, it has enabled higher forms of life to develop and survive on earth.

Part documentary, part videoart, the film takes us into the Amazon by night to explore the world’s most biodiverse ecosystem and discover its extraordinary natural heritage. The trees tell a tale of ongoing destruction: deforestation threatening the survival of mankind and the extinction of entire animal and plant species.
