Andrea, the son of a teacher and a surgeon, is 16 years old and lives in Biella. He has little interest in school or his surroundings and dreams of a different life. When Niculìn, a locally known shepherd, offers him the chance to work with him for room and board, Andrea accepts immediately and manages to persuade his parents of his intensions. What follows is the story of a boy who made up his mind to leave modern society’s comforts behind and enter the nomadic world of sheepherding. Andrea is happy to be out in the fields and meadows with the sheep and in contact with nature.
Manuele Cecconello directed the publishing house Gs and founded the
production company Prospettiva Nevskij. His first feature film was Beato
colui che sarà visto dai tuoi occhi (2006); with Olga e il tempo
(2008) he won the grand jury prize at Annecy.
