Daily life in a Swiss allotment garden. A symbol of Switzerland’s multiethnic-multicultural contemporary society, where people of various origin, religion and sociocultural background meet. Tilling the soil side by side, they share the same dreams, troubles, loneliness and perhaps nostalgia for their homeland; yet they create a fascinating microcosm of peaceful coexistence and integration between people of very different origin living in a country where they were not born.
Mano Khalil attended the University of Damascus before moving to
Czechoslovakia, where he studied filmmaking and direction. He has
numerous short and documentary titles to his credit, including My God,
Where God Sleeps, Triumph of Iron, David der Tolhilda, Mein Kerker, mein
Haus and Unser Garten Eden.
