When the first natural reserves were created in the 1950s and 1960s, few wondered about the local populations inhabiting the areas. Tanzania, besides being one of the world’s 10 poorest countries, is home to one of the world’s most famous natural parks: the Serengeti (8000 sq. km.). A unique, extraordinary experience for the thousands of Western visitors who go there every year but who resent the presence of the local community that has lived there in harmony with nature for 3000 years.
Andreas Apostolides, noted thriller author, has directed over 125 episodes for the Reportage Without Frontiers series and filmed numerous documentaries, including Dirty Greeks (1999), Once Upon a Time There Were Heroes (2001) and The Network (2005).
