Paraplegic Marine Jake Sully has just landed on Pandora, a planet 44 light years away from Earth and inhabited by the Na’vi, a population that lives in complete symbiosis with their surroundings. Because of the planet’s rich mineral resources, and although the atmosphere is toxic to humans, Jack’s mission is to enter into infiltrate the Na’vi people with the use of his avatar and, having gained their acceptance, discover how to conquer them. But then he learns to appreciate the Na’vi culture through Neytiri and he falls in love with her, leading to a radical change in his vision and mission.
James Cameron has directed Terminator (1984), Aliens (1986), The Abyss (1989), Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991), True Lies (1994) and Titanic (1997), which earned him the Oscar for Best Director. Avatar grossed over US $2 billion at the box office.
