Scascoli, province of Bologna, the Emilian Apennines. Gabriella, former actress, dedicated gardener and advocate of biological farming, has a dream: protect the environment starting from her own 1-hectare plot where she has created a sanctuary of rare and nearly extinct plant species, providing humble, spontaneously growing plants with the same care as their more noble counterparts. In her own backyard she is fighting a determined battle to preserve biodiversity and to show thousands of visitors from around the world how they too can do it.
Patrizia Marani began writing and making her first documentaries in the early 1990s. She co-directed Zambia Fights Back (2000), followed La società dipendente (2006), which ran in competition at the New York International Independent Film and Video Festival.
