Before modern highways were built, old Route 11 (Padana Superiore [Upper Po Plain]) was northern Italy’s main artery: 430 km from Turin through Milan to Venice. Milo Adami and Luca Scivoletto travel the final stretch from Mestre to Lake Garda on a journey into the province of Veneto, one of Italy’s most heavily industrialized areas. Incorporating archive material and narratives of local inhabitants, they describe the contradictions of roadside life.
Milo Adami was born in 1981, in Rome, and worked in contemporary art before making his first short Periferica di gruppo (2007).
Luca Scivoletto was born in 1981, in Modica (Ragusa) and directed numerous films including Ho deciso (2004) and Ieri (2006).
