Seas and oceans without fish by 2048. This is the probable scenario if fishing continues at today’s rate. Rupert Murray accompanies Charles Clover, whose bestseller by the same name was the basis for the film, on a journey from the Straits of Gibraltar, to the coasts of Senegal and Alaska, to the Tokyo fish market to tell this harrowing story of mass extermination and its implications for marine life. Many fish species like the bluefin tuna are at serious risk of extinction due to overfishing and the increasing demand for sushi.
Rupert Murray directed and edited Unknown White Male, screened at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival, and has been nominated for numerous awards, including the British Independent Film Award. The End of the Line was previewed at the Sundance Film Festival.
