Fifteen-year-old Vinh Voeurn dreams of falling in love with a girl with long, smooth hair and of becoming a karaoke star surrounded by adoring fans. But he lives in a remote Cambodian village, tends cows and lives with chronic arsenic poisoning from the polluted river water; probably he will share the same fate as the girl who used to live across the street. But he may also have a chance to see his dream come true by singing some songs in a documentary on the effects of arsenic.
Cynthia Wade made her first film Almost Home in 1995. After filming Grist For The Mill (1999) and Shelter Dogs (2003), she won the 2008 Oscar for Best Short Documentary with Freeheld. Born Sweet earned her an Honorable Mention at the 2010 Sundance Festival.
