After creating the model of a village, Ma Yongfeng films its complete destruction by a storm that returns the earth to its origins: nature's punishment for man's indifference.

Ma Yongfeng (b. 1971) lives and works in Beijing. Over the years he has explored alternative realities between order and disorder by means of video art, photography, animation and installations. He caught international interest in 2002 with The Swirl and has exhibited at shows around the world, the most important of which were “Chinese Video Now” at
the P.S.1 Contemporary Art Center, New York, “Becoming Landscape” at the Platform China Contemporary Art Institute, Beijing, and “The Cretaceous Period” at ArtSway in England. In 2007 he was selected for the Production Residency Scheme at ArtSway and the Chinese Arts Centre, England.
