A unique oasis in the Mediterranean, Chinini, one of Tunisia's natural paradises, is in danger: sinking aquifer levels threaten the water supply on which agriculture depends; new cement works and chemical plants pose a risk to the area's extraordinary biodiversity, forcing the local population to move elsewhere. Narrated by a little girl, the film tells the story of Kamel, a young farmer who uses biological farming methods, and an active member of an association that promotes the protection of rural economy and the survival of the oasis.

With 40 documentaries to her credit, Elisa Mereghetti is known for her work on anthropological and social issues, and women's conditions in particular, the developing countries and environmental activism. Her films include Mothers of Water (1988), The King does not Lie (1992), in collaboration with the anthropologist Judith Gleason, and the TV series "Economy and the environment: a challenge for Senegalese women". Founder of the Ethnos Film production company, she has collaborated with NGOs and RAI for the program "Geo – Viaggio nel pianeta".
