CinemAmbiente in cooperation with Circoscrizione VI - Torino, organizes the film exhibition 'Ecokids 2011', screenings for the primary schools of the city. All the events will be introducedby an environmental expert.
A group of horsemen riding through the Barbagia at dawn, the silence broken by the sound of the grass and the wind. Suddenly the Ottana industrial zone appears on the horizon, where the group may be heading. In just 10 minutes and with a single take, the Sardinian artist Pietro Mele counterpoises an apparently untouched landscape with a group of people tied to their customs against a smoke and poisonous fumes belching eco-monster that has aroused controversy since it went into operation in the 1960s. A thought-provoking film presented at numerous international festivals and winner of the Special Jury Prize in the Italian Shorts competitive category of the 2008 Torino Film Festival.
Pietro Mele (b. Alghero, 1976) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, Florence, until 2001. In 2004 he began to exhibit his works and participate in international collective shows. He currently works and lives in Berlin, Milan, and Ittiri (SA). Ottana is his directorial debut film.
