Environmental emergencies are a staple news item, yet far less is reported about whether steady economic growth, the driver of modern society, is eco-compatible. Global warming, atmospheric emissions and chemical products are just some of the examples of the incompatibility between the environment and production systems that create waste and exploit the world’s poorest countries. This film tells of the experience of people who have made conscious eco-sustainable choices based on recycling, renewable energy sources, targeted consumption and cooperation with the developing countries.

Luca Casavola (b. Naples, 1975) lives in Paris where he works as director of photography and operator. He has collaborated on the video clips Yaganegi, Salaam, Akharin Talash and Tekie gah with the Iranian singer Sattar, commercials, and the documentary Regards sur la Martinique. His directorial debut film was Dov’è la decrescita (2008) co-directed with the journalist Monica Di Bari.
Monica Di Bari earned a degree in Political Science from the University of Milan before continuing her studies on a masters course entitled "Commercio equo e certificazione biologica", University of Bologna. Two works she has published are Schiavi del Supermercato. La grande distribuzione organizzata in Italia e le alternative concrete and Il Concordato. Legislazione tra Stato e Chiesa. She also writes for the quarterly "Il Consapevole". Dov’è la decrescita? is her directoral debut film.
