Environmental protection agency controls begun in 2004 in Puglia soon revealed a scarcely suspected environmental disaster: polluted air, water and soil contributing to the rise in poisoning and cancer rates among the local population. The causes? The industrial zone of Brindisi, the thermoelectric plant at Cerano, the Copersalento at Maglie, besides the numerous overflowing garbage dumps, like Burgesi at Ugento, operating at the brink of environmental and public health disaster, suspected for years by local citizens and associations as a notorious source of pollution.
Disclosing what does harm seems the only way to try to save our planet.

Chiara Zilli, a native of Salento, studied journalism in Milan and gained accreditation in 2005, before following her interest in cinema. In 2008 she returned to Puglia where she made Once upon a Time Countryside (2008), her directorial debut film.
