A good eye opener to the consequences of some of our choices would be a trip to the Easter Garbage Patch, an area about the size of Eastern Europe, where tons of plastic driven by ocean currents collect in the mid Pacific causing irreparable damage to the ocean’s ecosystem. This in addition to the risk of intoxication to ourselves from the substances contained in the objects we use every day. With 3 years of filming in 12 countries, Ian Connacher has put together an accurate account of the possible solutions, history, hazards, and widespread use of plastic which has revolutionized modern life.

For over 10 years Ian Connacher has been engaged in environmental activism, as journalist for the magazines Shift, Canadian Geographic and The Globe and Mail, and film director and producer. In 2000 he co-founded Earth Change Productions, a distribution company specialized in documentaries on climate changes. Since 2001 he has worked on the production of TV films such as Sunday, shown on CBS, and Daily Planet, broadcast on the Discovery Canada channel. In 2005 he founded the production company Cryptic Moth Productions, for which he has directed several films.
