CinemAmbiente at Vico Canavese

During the whole month of august CinemAmbiente in cooperation with the library of Vico Canavese organizes the film exhibition "CinemAmbiente in Valchiusella". The films will be screened at the Salone Pluriuso (Regione Lime) - free entry. All the events will be introduced by Gaetano Capizzi and Debora Bocchiardo.

In 2055 disastrous climatic changes have made the world inhospitable. Faced with this alarming situation, Pete Postelethwaite, the sole founder of Global Archive, which contains the video recordings of a humanity on the brink of extinction, asks himself as he views the passing images and testimonies why no one did anything to save the planet. Combining science fiction, current real-life reports, and animated sequences with TV material, Fanny Armstrong takes a fresh, rigorous, and entertaining approach to analyzing the causes and effects of one of today’s most compelling emergencies.

Il regista / The Director

Franny Armstrong made her film directorial debut with McLibel (1997, co-directed by Ken Loach), presented at CinemAmbiente 2000, a harsh portrait of the McDonald's empire, which became a legal and media event after the multinational giant filed for an injunction against allowing the film to be shown on TV. Afterwards Armstrong made McLibel Two (2005), an apt sequence. In 2002 she directed Drowned Out, which focused on the Narmanda dam emergency in India.
