I.E.

Cleaning one's teeth, opening the fridge, throwing garbage away: trivial everyday actions that we sometimes do without too much thinking. A series of inter views to ordinary people and three scenes remind us in a half-serious tone that we know very little about the domestic running of water, power and waste. There is little awareness of how much our consumption weighs on nature. We should be able to measure, have a concrete idea of the effects of our lifestyle and, consequently, realize that a change is necessary. For this reason it is important to calculate the Ecological Mark, an indicator telling us how much of nature we need to sustain our consumption. It's an alarm bell to figure out if we are exceeding the Earth's regeneration capacity. As Italian WWF spokesman Gianfranco Bologna illustrates, the turn to sustainable development is possible, even if it's restrained by the weak political will to put it into practice .There are, however, some positive signs. The wood-power Filiera in Canavese (an agricultural area in Piedmont) is an example of how good practice in the territory allows to reconcile development and environment.
