La battaglia di Seattle
In 1999 Seattle hosted the World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference. Thousands of demonstrators arrived from around the world to protest against an organization founded to protect the interests of the rich countries and the multinationals. What started out as a peaceful protest escalated into a full-scale riot against the police. The National Guard was called in and a state of emergency was declared. This, together with the new force of the no-global movement, have attracted media attention. In this docudrama, Townsend recounts the events through the eyes of very different witnesses, enlisting an all-star cast and effectively mixing real footage and shot footage of the battles between protesters and the police.

Stuart Townsend (b. 1972, Ireland) made his acting debut in Trojan Eddie (1996), followed by, among other works, About Adam (2000), which attracted critical acclaim, Queen of the Damned (2002), The League of the Extraordinary Gentlemen (2003), Head in the Clouds (2004), The Best Man (2005), Aeon Flux (2005) and Chaos Theory (2007). Battle in Seattle is his directorial debut.
«In researching the event, I thought it would be a real chance as a filmmaker to play with montage, to play with docudrama style, and to be more conventional with the interior scenes, shooting more conventionally with tracking shots. The blending of real footage with shot footage, as a first-time filmmaker, that was really exciting to try to do all these things».
