CinemAmbiente in cooperation with Circoscrizione VI - Torino, organizes the film exhibition 'Ecokids 2011', screenings for the primary schools of the city. All the events will be introducedby an environmental expert.
This short and interesting documentary shows how the citizens of Treviso, young and old, rely on bicycles for transportation. Through still photographs and audio interviews, Watson shows how cycling can enrich the community and also one’s health. The simplicity and emotional tone of the video is aimed to inspire more people to choose bikes instead of cars.
Andrew David Watson, who currently lives in Philadelphia, is a filmmaker who mostly works on documentaries, creative short form projects and music videos that have been screened on MTV and at film festivals around the world. Although he is currently covering the 2008 US presidential elections for the Independent Film Channel, he still finds time to make films about the environment and cycling.
«Lessons from One Small Town was created […] during a short stay at FABRICA (Benetton group communications research center). I was inspired by the bicycling community of Treviso and decided that making a film about cycling could inspire more people in my home town to ride bikes. Using just a still camera and a basic audio recorder, I set out to make a simple and beautiful film».
