The Darfur region in eastern Sudan is one of the hottest spots in the world today. Darfur Now follows the fates of six people brought together by the fight to end the crisis in the region, among them Luis Moreno Ocampo, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, who has been charged with investigating the genocide in Darfur. A story of hope in the midst of one of humanity’s darkest hours – a call to action for people everywhere to end the catastrophe unfolding in Darfur, Sudan. No less eloquent are the efforts of Hollywood stars to persuade world politicians to put pressure on the Sudanese government.
Il regista / The Director
Theodore Braun earned M.A. in filmmaking before writing and directing numerous awardwinning documentaries and TV reports for HBO, PBS, A&E and Discovery Channel. After teaching at Amhearst College, he joined the School of Cinematic Arts, University of Southern California.
«I wanted to combine two elements: the sense of cinematic scale with a sense of human intimacy. […] And film with technical tools that could deliver both spectacle and personal contact. So we ended up shooting with a very small crew, a certain type of HD camera, and focused verité style of filmmaking that still allowed us to reach for cinematic magnitude».
