CinemAmbiente in cooperation with Circoscrizione VI - Torino, organizes the film exhibition 'Ecokids 2011', screenings for the primary schools of the city. All the events will be introducedby an environmental expert.
Somewhere in the Arctic a mother walrus attends to her young; nearby a mother polar bear watches over her cubs: both families are forced to migrate because global warming has disrupted the Arctic’s fragile ecosystem, with the ocean steadily encroaching as the polar ice cap melts. An adventurous journey engagingly retold by Adam Ravetch and Sarah Robertson against breathtaking landscapes inhabited by some of nature’s most astounding species.
Adam Ravetch studied zoology at San Diego University and specialized in marine biology. With over 25 years diving experience, Ravetch is one of the trade's most respected underwater photographers. With his wife Sarah Robertson he founded Arctic Bear Productions. On assignment for National Geographic TV and PBS, he has filmed documentaries about polar bears since 1997. Arctic Tale is his first feature documentary.
«It’s a surprise to see animals behaving in ways that we can relate to, which I think is interesting. We’re surprised to see animals helping each other, we’re surprised to see animals hugging and kissing – and I think the surprise is because we’ve forgotten how close we are to these animals».
