CinemAmbiente in cooperation with Circoscrizione VI - Torino, organizes the film exhibition 'Ecokids 2011', screenings for the primary schools of the city. All the events will be introducedby an environmental expert.
A journey to the center of Campania’s garbage guided by residents’ protests. Images of Naples and its outlying neighbourhoods of Pianura, Taverna del Re and Monteruscello tell a stark tale of an area on the brink of environmental disaster: mountains of trash, contaminated farmlands, illegal dumping sites, infiltration of dioxin and other poisonous toxins.
Ricky Farina earned a degree in philosophy before working as assistant director for Charlie Owens on Nikebe (2004). His directorial debut film was the short Traum l'illusionista (2003), followed by Il palombaro (2004) and two documentaries Radio Foppa (2006) and Alda (2006).
“Driven by the urge to break through to the other side of the TV screen, we wanted to pick up on the “scent of news” rather than just watch what was happening in Naples. Working on a tiny indie budget, we followed our instincts. The result is an impressionistic documentary, filmed without advanced planning, that shows all the good and bad points of a “light” production. No Breathing is a labor of love for Naples and an alarm signal for us all”.
