CinemAmbiente in cooperation with Circoscrizione VI - Torino, organizes the film exhibition 'Ecokids 2011', screenings for the primary schools of the city. All the events will be introducedby an environmental expert.
Taking a line from a Fabrizio de Andrè song, “A Cimma-a”, Silvio Soldini depicts the changes that have transformed Liguria. The five chapters (“Flowers”, “Olives”, “Fishing”, “Seamen”, “Steel mill”) form a chronicle of the lives of five persons portrayed in striking pictures and memories of a simpler life, of days gone by, and of backbreaking work against a background of changes in social structure and land-use. After years of rampant modernization and industrialization, efforts are under way to restore the landscape and to conserve its scenic beauty.
Silvio Soldini (b. Milan, Italy) made his directorial debut with the short film Drimage (1982), followed by the award-winning medium-length Paesaggio con figure (1983) and Giulia in ottobre (1985). Voci celate (1986) was his first documentary, followed by La fabbrica sospesa (1987), Musiche bruciano (1991), Frammenti di una storia tra cinema e periferia (1995), Made in Lombardia (1996), Casa cose città (1997), Il futuro alle spalle - Voci da un'età inquieta (1998), Rom Tour (1999), presentated at CinemAmbiente. His first feature, L'aria serena dell'Ovest (1990), earned him critical and public acclaim, as did Un'anima divisa in due (1993), Le acrobate (1993), Pane e tulipani (2000), his international breakthrough, Brucio nel vento (2002), Agata e la tempesta (2004) and Giorni e nuvole (2007).
