CinemAmbiente at Vico Canavese

During the whole month of august CinemAmbiente in cooperation with the library of Vico Canavese organizes the film exhibition "CinemAmbiente in Valchiusella". The films will be screened at the Salone Pluriuso (Regione Lime) - free entry. All the events will be introduced by Gaetano Capizzi and Debora Bocchiardo.

The Rebels' Trek from Venaus to Rome

Summer 2006. Marchers set out from Venaus in the Susa Valley and arrived in Rome, some 800 km and 8 days later. The aim of the NOTAV coalition trek was to explain why it is against the High-Speed Train project. Along the way, the dauntless merry marchers crossed other towns and met other people travelling the same road, like the two civil coalitions NOPONTE and NOMOSE. On arrival in Rome, they delivered a cartload of appeals to the Italian Parliament. This is the story of a contagious utopia that originated from a mountain village and spread across the country, firing the hopes of citizens seeking a sense of community and participation.

Il regista / The Director

Working through the Gruppo Comunicazione Visiva, Adonella Marena popularized women's cinema during the 1980s. Since 1989 she has made short and documentary films and collaborated with Rai3, ZDF Arte, La7, Planete, Videogruppo, and Documè. Her works include: Il megalite (I989); Okoi e semi di zucca (1994); Facevo le nugatine (1996); Tute Bianche, un esercito di sognatori (2002); Mi piaceva vivere lassù (2003); NO TAV, gli indiani di valle (2005); Non mi arrendo, non mi arrendo! (2006).

“While working on Indiani di valle I had the chance to learn at first hand about the problems affecting the Susa Valley. Following the experiences of the marchers in this new film, I wanted to bring out the cohesive forces that make people so different in age, attitude, education, and political leanings want to unite on a journey that, in essence, gives them a political platform for voicing their opinions on controversial issues like protecting the environment, defending public goods, and grass-roots democracy.”
