Street Boulder

Arrampicatori metropolitani

Street Boulder describes the relatively new phenomenon of street-bouldering, a sport that has attracted more widespread enthusiasm in Italy than anywhere else in the world. A spin-off of bouldering (similar to rock climbing), this urban variant started as a reaction to increasing urbanization and a desire to experience city living on a vertical plane. For street-boulder enthusiasts the gray metropolis provides an enormous outdoor gym: a building façade, a monument, a bridge or an abandoned building all become blocks to be conquered and a challenge to a climber’s skills.
Through the voices of the founders of street-bouldering Italian style and with the aid of unique, spectacular images, this documentary recounts the origins and spread of the sport, its techniques and philosophy, as well as problems with the law.

He also directed Contagio (2006), a documentary on the positive influence of art, and Giovanni Allevi JOY - live at Santa Cecilia Concert Hall, a video of a concert performance given by the famous Italian pianist Giovanni Allevi. He wrote and directed Fa’ la cosa giusta! (2005), an interactive short film for the University of Piceno. “Why travel thousands of kilometers when adventure lies just around the corner? What makes a 30-year-old want to face the risk of climbing the Castello Sforzesco in Milan? The answers are provided by two founders of Italian street-bouldering: Andrea “Negher” Negrinelli and Massimiliano “Max” Sacchi. After Milan, Turin is probably Italy’s second home to street-bouldering, according to Diego “Diedro” La Porta, university sports club director and leader of street-bouldering in Piedmont.”
