Peak Oil

Il picco del petrolio

Sooner or later our oil reserves will dry up. As more and more crude is pumped to meet rising demand, the critical moment may come sooner than we think. But then what? Larry Larstead proffers an answer with the sights and sounds captured in the Northern-Rivers area of Australia.

Il regista / The Director

regista

While still a student at UCLA where he earned a maters in fine arts, Larstead directed his first films, including the award-winning Induction. After moving to Australia in 1970, he worked for Telemark Films, making mainly commercials for the international market, documentaries and video musicals. After buying Telemark in 1984 then selling it in 1988, he turned to music but continued to direct and produce films for his own production company, $2 Films.

“Have you noticed, more cars, more trucks, more road building? Peak Oil deals with the recent world-wide speculation that global oil production has reached its peak and may now be in serious decline. Peak Oil is a short atmospheric documentary film shot in the Northern-Rivers region of NSW, Australia, and tackles the big question: What happens when the oil starts running out?”
