CinemAmbiente at Vico Canavese

During the whole month of august CinemAmbiente in cooperation with the library of Vico Canavese organizes the film exhibition "CinemAmbiente in Valchiusella". The films will be screened at the Salone Pluriuso (Regione Lime) - free entry. All the events will be introduced by Gaetano Capizzi and Debora Bocchiardo.

What would happen if we left the fridge door open for the umpteenth time and the light that dimly guides us to last night’s leftovers and eggs for making an omelette began to burn with the heat of a foundry? Certainly something undesirable, especially for the food put there to keep fresh. Well, this is what’s happening to our planet.

Il regista / The Director

Lucie Stamfestova (1976) studied conservation and restoration, television graphics and filmmaking at the Academy of Fine Art, Architecture and Design, Prague, before going on to specialize at the École du Film d’Animation, Valence, France. In addition to working as animator and illustrator, she directed Titanic (2006) and Automat (2004).

“How to show the long-term effect of climate change in 5 minutes? With the help of a simple metaphor. People hear about global warming and ecological problems every day. Yet they are unable to imagine what is really happening. ‘The changes are happening so slowly and the ozone layer is so far away.’‘Explain it to me as if I were a small child,’ the lawyer in the film Philadelphia asks the witnesses and the accused. It is the same with global warning: we are all witnesses as well as accused. So a helpful way to show the effects of global warming is with a simple metaphor. Imagine a fridge full of food. What happens inside when someone forgets to close the door? Even a small child can understand that.”
