How to cook your life

A Zen priest from Fairfax, California. Wise, clever and often surprisingly wrathful: Edward Espe Brown. Author of the famous tassajara cookbook, philosopher, Zen teacher and master chef. In this documentary, German director Doris Dörrie portrays the life and work of Edward Brown, attending his conferences, watching him cook and following his courses. Under Brown’s guidance, cooking is more than just putting food on the table: cooking, or better knowing how to cook, is a matter of caring for oneself and others.
Doris Dörrie’s camera captures the colors and aromas of cooking, showing that the way we cook and eat is a part of our lifestyle. A journey through food traditions that reminds us of the importance of simple, natural and meaningful things in life.
