he story of the Organization of the Campesino Environmentalists (OCE), founded in 1998, and its successful efforts to halt forest exploitation. The video describes the Mexican government’s campaign to destroy the OCE by arresting and torturing two of the movement’s founders, Rodolfo Montiel and Teodoro Cabrera, recently sentenced to 7 and 10 years imprisonment, respectively, and falsely accused of drugs and arms dealing.
Carlos Pérez Rojas (1976) trained at Vido Tamix, a community organization that disseminates the Mixe culture through the mass media. Video and social documentary director, he works on the problems of the aborigine populations of Oaxaca, Chiapas and Guerrero. His works include: Defender los Bosques (2000), Cuando la justicia se hace pueblo (2002) and Mirando hacia dentro (2005), La lucha de los campesinos (2005).
