Every year famine returns: the Kononga people (northern Burkina Faso) depend on seasonal rains for their survival. In this area of the world, desertification has gone on for generations, and the local peo- ple are unable to face this natural process without outside help. While awaiting the end of the wor- ld—their world, the villagers (animalists, Muslims and Christians) place their fate in God’s hands.
Christophe Cupelin (Switzerland 1966) graduated from the École Supérieure d’Art Visual, Geneva. Independent filmmaker, he lives and works in the north (Geneva) and the south (Burkina Faso). In 1994 he founded Laika Film. His works include: Dondoli Studio (1997) and Y’a personne? (2002).
