L'arco occidentale - Le Marittime e le Liguri
The mountains of the vast Alpine range appear to be all the same but they are in fact very different. The Marittime and the Liguri rise from the waters of the Mediterranean Sea but reach the sky with peaks such as the‘Argentera’,the‘Toraggio’(the‘Matterhorn of Liguria’) and the‘Mongioie’.There are also the cliffs used for rock climbing at Finale,‘garden of rock walls’. Other peaks and valleys are full of prehistoric remains and rock engravings, left behind by the Ligurian peoples far beyond the region’s present borders.
Il regista / The Director
Born in Ferrara in 1930, Folco Quilici is a photographer and film director. He is one of the greatest Italian documentarists. His name is associated with films about the sea, such as Sesto continente (1954) and Ultimo para- diso (1956). He has already made over 300 films dealing with cultural to- pics. He has also published several fiction and non-fiction books, among which we may mention “Cacciatori di Navi” (1985),“Naufraghi” (1998) and “I Serpenti di Melqart” (2003).
