Based on the novel by Étienne Goyemidé, it is one of the first films speaking out in defence of the bushmen, victims of the racism of African people from the towns. After studying in Europe, Gonaba, a school inspector, decides to move to a Babingan pygmy’s village to open a school there. He ends up by doubting his own convinctions and having to relate to a completely different vision of life. It represents a vivid reflection on respect between cultures and the western society’s craving for power. The pygmies from the village of Akungu also took part in the film.
Didier Ouénangaré was born in the Central African Republic. He graduated at Rennes University. He has made short-length films. His first work is Le Silence de la forêt.
