On the night of 7th August 1978, a sudden violent flood submerged the Vigezzo Valley above Domodossola, on the border with Switzerland. This film was commissioned by the town of Malesco, in the Vigezzo Valley. 25 years later, through repertoire pictures and interviews with witnesses, this film shows the tragic event that caused many victims and devastated the hydro-geological assets of the whole area.
Luciano D’Onofrio was born in 1964. After studying graphic art, he realized his first super8 films in 1985. Subsequently, he started working with video as a camera-man, editor and director, mainly for documentaries. He dealt contemporarily with experimental and ‘underground’ video-cinematographic activities in the ‘centri sociali’(alternative social centres) and non-commercial channels.
