CinemAmbiente in cooperation with Circoscrizione VI - Torino, organizes the film exhibition 'Ecokids 2011', screenings for the primary schools of the city. All the events will be introducedby an environmental expert.
Fernando Solanas goes back to his roots with 'Memoria del saqueo'. Just like for 1968’s La hora de los hornos he turns to cinema, as the only media capable of investigating his country’s political and social reality. The result is a raging and loving portrait of Argentina shaken by the economical crisis which it has been taken over by for the last few years along with the consequences of globalisation and neoliberist political choices of the government, not to mention the outspreading corruption and public money squandering on top of it. The film is Solanas’ contribution which though offered from a fiercely militant position takes on the debate of globalisation’s inhuman effects aware that another world is possible.
Fernando Solanas was born in 1936 in Buenos Aires. In 1968 he imposes
himself with a documentary by the title of La hora de los hornos
becoming one of “decolonisation” cinema’s main representatives. In the
70s due to Argentina’s dictatorship he becomes an exile in Paris. Once
returned to his country he is a MP from 1993 to 1997. His films include
La nube (1998), El viaje (1992), Sur (1988), Tangos, el exilio de Gardel
(1985).
