A film about the passing of time and seasons and, ultimately, the essence of cinema. A composition of Russian countryside farmers and common people’s portraits who remaining still for the whole length of the shooting, enhance the movement of landscape behind them. The representation of a decaying reality, doomed to being swallowed up by time under the indifference of a more and more hectic world, unable to appreciate nature’s slowness.
Sergey Loznitsa was born in Baranovichi, in Bielorussia in1964. Once attained his degree in 1986 at Kiev’s polytechnic university he enrolled at the State Cinema University. He started his film and documentary production in 1996 for which he has been awarded international prizes.
