SHORES OF SILENCE by Mike H. Pandey (India, 2000)

For the essential language used to describe the shark hunting which takes place on the western coasts of India; it resorts to the traditional documentary characteristics based on effective and involving images. The life of Idian fishermen is realistically described, and has a determinating role in his expository aiming at telling the life of Indian fishermen and the cruel fate of the sharks which have become an endangered speacies. The clarity of the narration and the effective style reveal very importtant environment aspects in the struggle for the protection of the environment on our planet.

GIOCHI DI HAITI by Alessandro Corallo (Italia, 1999)

The video is a magnificent tolken with a cultural and ecological consistent approach to the issue of recycled fibre to create toys and games from scratch. In land of poverty and destitution, the children’s fantasy and creativity force produces unimmaginable objects. The director cleverly seizes the simplicity of a world made of poverty and hope.

DOG DAYS by Ellie Lee (Usa, 2000)

The enigmatic relationship between a man who thinks he is a dog and a family tried by the war. The story is told in an original style which finds in the black and white choice an even more effective representation of the protagonist’s existential drama. The final role reversal suggests the importance of accepting each other’s differences.
