An old Russian general’s nightmares are replaced by magical, fun-filled dreams when he adopts a playful dog, to whom he gives an unusual name: Bonaparte. To end a long lasting war grudge of the birds against the General, clever Bonaparte organizes a dog mutiny demanding that all caged birds be freed immediately. Hundreds of dog sitting on the frozen river are soon in danger as the ice starts to break. The General takes on the challenge to save them, in a touching, poetic tale the history books seem to have forgotten.
The Dog, the General, and the Birds is Francis Nielsen’s first feature film. Over the past 20 years, Nielsen has produced and directed numerous animated TV series, including Zoolympics, Il Etait Une Fois, Dodo le Retour, Le Père Noel et Son Jumaux. In 1997 Nielsen directed Le Parfum de l’Invisible, based on the Milo Manara comic.
