23 OCTOBER 2010 4 SEPTEMBER 2011
Museo Regionale di Scienze Naturali
Via Giolitti 36 - Torino
With the declaration of 2010 International Biodiversity Year, the United Nations General Assembly invited all member states to collaborate in devoting attention to the problems of the loss of biodiversity. This exhibition, organized by CinemAmbiente in col- laboration with the University of Gastronomic Sciences, Pollenzo, Slow Food and Terra Madre, is the response by the Museum of Natural History to the UN’s appeal. Through films, sounds and panorama showcases arranged in six thematic areas, visitors will gain an insight into the earth’s vast biodiversity and an idea about the serious risks threatening it.

PAV - Parco d’Arte Vivente, Via Giordano Bruno 31 - TorinoIn this collective show organized for CinemAmbiente by the 4Events cultural association, works by young piedmontese art- ists interpret through various art forms (from sustainable inte- rior design to sculpture, plastic and figurative art) a shared sense of nature as a living organism which constitutes man’s primary identity. The starting point is the Courtyard of the Pharmacy of the Museum of Natural Science, where an installation created by two Turin architects specialized in bio-construction leads to two other exhibition spaces, the De Chirico Gallery and the Park of Living Art, creating a pathway that involves the active participation of visitors.

Twenty penguins, a 2-meter long swordfish, a fishing net full of catch pulled from the sea: all recreated in synthetic resin and covered in tar. Surrounding these sea creatures imprisoned in bi- tumen are works on canvas showing oilsmeared beaches. During the inaugural evening, the artist’s video on environmental disasters will be shown, accompanied by the Pink Floyd’s Shine On You Crazy Diamond.
Marco Giammarinaro uses mixed techniques, traditional art paints and solvents together with material taken from the en- vironment. His award-winning works have been exhibited in one- man and collective shows.
