OLD PARTNER

by LEE Chung-Ryoul

The Jury assignes the Prize to the film OLD PARTNER for its strong poetics and its ability to deeply move through the narration of a story which is a metaphor of human life itself.?OLD PARTNER is a film full of the wisdom that is often lacking in human beings, and succeeds in communicating a strong environmental message that even a child would be able to catch, in a simple and direct way.?It is a message that aims to protect from any kind of contamination, even from humanity’s most inner one.

The Jury further awards a Special Mention to:

For the humour and irony which allow the director to engage audiences and catch their interest vis-à-vis issues, that have now become fundamental in our daily life

Torino Provincial Student Award 1500 Euros

We have been positively impressed by the director’s way of dealing with the traffic issue - of which students like us have a direct experience - as well as by the fact that, setting up an independent movement, he manages to be supported by both citizens and local administrations, thus reaching creditable results.

The Jury further awards a Special Mention to:

The film has a strong visual and setting impact, capable of engaging all segments of the audience, and is supported by a first-rate original score.

Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) prize 2000 Euros

By putting together images and sounds in an appropriate manner, the director is able to convey the important message relating to the difficult access to water. The film further shows the mankind-religion relationship that, at times, cannot find answers, despite the effort and energies dedicated to it .

The Jury further awards a Special Mention to:

by Huaqing Jin

For dealing with a highly topical, little accessible and highly urgent issue and for the deep emotional impact of the film.

ITALIAN DOCUMENTARY COMPETITION

CIAL Prize 3000 Euros

by Massimiliano Mazzotta

For effectively unveiling the story of the Saras oil refinery plant, founded in 1962 by Angelo Moratti, pointing out the conflicting ramifications of an industrial development model, which has characterized our country in the 60s and which, besides creating new jobs, has either underestimated or neglected or hidden its long-term impact on the territory and on the people living in Sarroch, in the province of Cagliari.

The Jury further awards a Special Mention to:

by Joseph Péaquin

By plunging us into the rythm of mountain life, the film allows us to become acquainted with the little known work of foresters, crucial to the conservation of both nature and animals inhabiting our mountains.

Legambiente Special Mention
by Massimiliano Mazzotta

For narrating, through original photography and with an engaging approach, the conflicting relationship of an industrial plant vis-à-vis the territory. The story of the Sardinian oil refinery, which creates jobs for the people living in the town, at the same time bringing along industrial accidents, diseases and environmental damage, embodies one of the most substantial contradictions of our time. Oil has had the courage to tell this story with even-tempered resolution, leading the audience to think over our society’s development models.

GOLDER ASSOCIATES SPECIAL AWARD

Golder Associates Award for the film which best deals with the issue of environmental sustainability - 4000

Euros

by Pierre Barougier and Olivier Bourgeois

Through the contributions of famous personalities, who utter their respective points of view in a qualified and wise manner, the film leads the audience to deeply reflect on the issues of environmental sustainability and humankind’s future. Supported by beautiful images and a befitting music score, the film is characterized by its positive attitude in dealing with the weighty issues humankind is currently facing, allowing us to catch a glimpse of positive solutions. Also, the quality of production should be mentioned, which makes the film engaging and such as to be enjoyed by a vast and heterogeneous audience.
